First time at CCC?

03.21.12 | Newcomers

    COVID Announcement

During COVID we are meeting family groups and online.   Please check out this page for more information about getting connected during this special season.

    An Important Note:

Government Regulations require that only Foreign Passport Holders may attend CCC and that each attendee wear a name tag while at church. Please bring your passport to be checked at the door. We thank you for your understanding.

    On your arrival:

Once you enter the main gates on Shun Huang Lu (Shunhuang Road), you will see a big building in front of you with a wide staired area; the entrance to CCC is at the right edge of these stairs. If you are arriving by car you will find parking available to either side of the entrance stairs. We request that drivers waiting for you park outside the complex in order to free up closer parking places (there is parking available behind the Beidong Flower Market next door).

    Lobby:

As you enter the building you will be greeted by one of our members who will check your passport and direct you to the welcome table in the lobby. That's where you will find everything you need to get you started at CCC! Please fill in a sticky label name tag for you and each member of your family. If you would like a permanent name tag, fill in the details on the request form. You can also leave your email address should you wish to receive weekly information from CCC about our programs and events.

Translation devices can also be picked up at the welcome table, for anyone who would appreciate listening to a simultaneous translation of the service from English into Mandarin Chinese.

As you enter the doors to the sanctuary, an usher will hand you a church bulletin outlining upcoming events. Please take one as they are also full of useful information about our programs for Kids, Youth, Women and Men.

    Refreshments:

Refreshments are available before and after the service at a table in the back of the sanctuary. There is tea, coffee, water, and usually cookies or other goodies provided by members.

    Children's Programs:

Sunday school programs are available for all school aged children, including middle and high schoolers. Please join the service together; there will be a prompt when the children's programs begin (before the sermon). All programs take place on the floor below the sanctuary; stairs are in the back right of the lobby.

There is also a nursery area for children aged 3 and under, with soft mats and lots of toys, available throughout the service. The nursery room is in the back left of the lobby. (Parents must provide supervision.) Please take off shoes and leave them in the cubbies provided before entering the nursery.

If your child would prefer not to attend these programs but needs some space to run around, we have a wooden playground area in the lobby which all children are welcome to use. (Parents must provide supervision.)

    The Service:

We begin with a time of praise and worship in song led by our worship team. This time enables us to reflect and focus on God and get our hearts and minds prepared for spending time with Him.

After this is a pastoral greeting time, during which we invite first time visitors to stand up. We won't ask you to say anything! But we do want to acknowledge your presence with us and give you a small gift. Offertory follows, and on the first Sunday of the month we share communion together. Then children who wish to attend the Capital Kids children's program are prompted to head downstairs for the remainder of the service. This is also the time when the Youth Group (US grades 6-12/UK years 7-13) leave for their own gathering downstairs.

Back in the main sanctuary we enjoy a sermon, often part of a series looking at a particular section of scripture. (You can catch up on previous sermons on our website.) At the same time, a sermon delivered in Mandarin Chinese will begin in the meeting room to the right of the sanctuary. Simultaneous translation of the sermon in the main sanctuary is also available (from English to Mandarin Chinese).

After the sermon we sing a final song, a time to reflect on what we've heard and prepare to go out into the week. Our service concludes with a few announcements about upcoming events and a benediction.

    After the Service:

We encourage you to stay a while after the service to meet people and chat over refreshments. If you would like to pray with an Elder, they will be available at the front of the church after the service. Newcomers are invited to attend a regular Newcomers Lunch with Pastor Rick. If you are new to CCC, whether it's your first week or you've been here a while but haven't connected, Pastor Rick would love to share lunch with you.
